EditingTrainee Editor

Editing

The Trainee Editor carries out various tasks under the direction of the editor and assistant editor. Supporting the editor and assistant editor throughout the production and post-production stages. They must learn about the functions of the department. They must reading the script prior to filming, and if necessary asking questions to gain a full understanding of the story and project. They are responsible for performing admin tasks such as labelling picture and sound files and camera, sound and continuity notes, filing away all notes in an efficient manner, printing daily camera, sound and continuity notes for all relevant parties.

For this role, you will need:


Strong interest in film, story and the mechanics of storytelling.


Attention to detail and organisational skills.


Ability to take instruction, follow requests and carry out tasks in a professional and efficient manner.


Good interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of a team but also on own initiative if required.


Great ability to observe, listen, learn and question.


An interest in learning on the job.

Career Path to Trainee Editor:

This is an entry level role. A qualification in Film Studies can be helpful.
